Senior Technical Engineer

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Engineer to add value to our specialist team.  The role has a wide list of responsibilities including server builds, PC rollouts, network administration and much more!  So it is necessary for you to have experience of dealing with PC / technical issues, as well as on-site installations.  You will be based on client sites for approximately 50% of the time, so exceptional customer facing skills are essential.  Windows Server and Desktop protocols (IP) are required, and a distinct bonus would be a sound understanding of Microsoft Exchange, Firewall, VPN and RAID configurations.  You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively—honesty and integrity are essential elements.  As this role will necessitate direct customer contact, a clean, well presented appearance is essential.  You will need to be able to work well under pressure and see projects through from start to finish.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

Main responsibilities:

• Answering, responding to and resolving technical issues from our clients, either on telephone, remotely or on-site
• Installation and configuration of Servers, networking hardware, desktop and laptop PCs, switches routers and firewalls plus any other associated hardware (i.e. iPhones etc.)
• Looking after two engineers and assisting them where required

Experience and skill in these areas of technology:

• Windows 2003/2008 Server, Active Directory and Exchange 2003/2007/2010
• DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, IAS
• Windows Desktop Operating Systems from XP upwards
• Firewall, WANs, Network infrastructure and VPN technology

Other attributes:

• Full UK driving licence
• Professional, presentable and personable, as this role necessitates direct client contact
• Enthusiastic and motivated, able to work well in a team
• Experience with Linux/Voice-over-IP technology is a definitive plus
• MCP, MCSE an advantage, but not essential
